FOREST MELODIES.
Seek no longer glitt'ring dust, Sordid lure to earthly trust— For thine offspring seek not fame, 'Tis a poor unmeaning name— Let this legacy be theirs, A mother's truly-fervent prayers.
Since our loving, glorious Lord Never can forget his word, These petitions shall arise To the Ruler of the skies, And come laden from above With the choicest gifts of love.

( I had not thought in such a world To find a heart like thine, That could have felt the weaknesses, And bome the faults of mine.
I had not thought, e'en when I found
My spirit lean'd on thee, That I might dare expect on earth
Such constant sympathy.
